Sheila de COURCY

Freelance Writer & Media Consultant

Sheila de Courcy is a freelance writer, researcher and media consultant. Her work has taken her from India and Russia to the United States and Uganda to beyond the Arctic circle.


For over thirty years she worked in RTÉ, Ireland’s public service broadcaster, where she produced, directed and commissioned content for audio, digital and television. As Group Head of Young People’s programmes she was responsible for setting up RTÉJR, a dedicated channel for children.


Prior to this she worked in conservation and exhibitions in the National Museum of Ireland.


She teaches at third level and postgraduate courses and is involved in mentoring and facilitation.


A former Chair of the board of The Ark and member of the IFI and Mary Raftery Journalism Fund boards, she is currently a member of the board of Dublin International Chamber Music Festival. Sheila has recently completed a Masters in Travel and Nature Writing.
